1. About this service

CarCostCheck ("we", "us", "our") provides vehicle information reports using data from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), and licensed third-party data suppliers including Experian. By using this website you agree to these terms.

2. Free reports

Our free vehicle reports include MOT history analysis, mileage verification, health scoring, running cost estimates, and other data derived from publicly available government sources. Free reports are provided at no charge and require no account or sign-up.

3. Premium reports

Premium reports provide additional vehicle history checks including stolen status, outstanding finance, insurance write-off records, keeper history, VIN verification, colour changes, plate transfers, and scrapped status. Premium data is provided by Experian via OneAuto API.

Premium reports are a one-time purchase at the price shown at checkout (currently £4.99). Payment is processed securely by Stripe. Premium reports are non-refundable once the data has been delivered, as the report is generated instantly upon payment.

4. Data accuracy and limitations

We take reasonable steps to ensure the accuracy of our reports. However, our reports rely on data provided by third-party sources (DVSA, DVLA, Experian, and others), and we cannot guarantee that this data is complete, accurate, or up to date at all times.

Reports are provided on an "as is" basis. We do not warrant that any report will be error-free. Vehicle history data may be incomplete due to limitations in underlying data sources, delays in data updates, or records that pre-date digital record-keeping.

Our reports should be used as one part of your decision-making process when buying or assessing a vehicle. They are not a substitute for a physical inspection, professional mechanic assessment, or independent vehicle check.

5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CarCostCheck shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or expense arising from the use of, or reliance on, any information contained in our reports. This includes but is not limited to: financial loss from purchasing a vehicle, losses arising from data inaccuracies or omissions in third-party data, or any indirect or consequential losses.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of this service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific report in question.

6. Third-party data providers

Premium report data is provided by Experian. Experian data is subject to Experian's own terms and conditions. We display Experian data under licence and are required to attribute data accordingly.

Free report data is sourced from the DVSA and DVLA under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use this service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to access data through automated means (scraping, bots, or bulk queries) without our prior written consent
• Redistribute, resell, or commercially exploit report data without authorisation
• Use vehicle data to harass, stalk, or invade the privacy of any individual

8. Intellectual property

All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of CarCostCheck or its licensors and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce or redistribute any content without permission.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
