Where does your data come from?
Free checks use official DVSA and DVLA data. Premium vehicle checks use data from Experian AutoCheck.
What does a premium check include?
Stolen (Police National Computer), outstanding finance with the lender, insurance write-off (Cat A/B/N/S), the number of previous keepers, the VIN on record, colour changes, plate transfers and scrapped markers. Each premium check uses 1 credit, and the free MOT history and mileage check comes with it.
Do I need a contract or monthly commitment?
No. Every pack is a one-time purchase and the credits never expire. There is no subscription, no joining fee, and no minimum commitment. Top up whenever you need to.
How fresh is the vehicle data?
Each premium check asks Experian, through our data partner, when you run it. If the same plate was checked on CarCostCheck in the last 24 hours we reuse that result and don't charge a credit (finance and stolen records rarely change inside a day). After 24 hours we always fetch it again.
What if a check fails or comes back with no data?
We refund the credit automatically. You only ever pay for a check that returns real vehicle data.
Can I check my whole stock list at once?
Yes. Upload a CSV or text file of registrations on your trade dashboard (from Excel, save the sheet as CSV first). We pick out the plates and check them in one go: free bulk checks use no credits, and premium bulk checks use 1 credit per car. Every result is saved to your check history, which you can search and export to CSV.
Is there a data guarantee?
No. Our checks don't come with a data guarantee. What you get instead is a lower price, from £2.59 a check, with no contract and credits that never expire.
Can I use this at auction?

What if I need more than 200 checks?
Once you have a trade account you can top up any amount from 10 to 500 credits from your dashboard, at £2.59 a check from 200 credits. For more than that, or for custom pricing, get in touch using the form above.
